If you are looking for things to do in Florianópolis beyond the famous beaches, kayaking at Lagoa do Peri is the perfect choice. Located in the South of the Island, this is the largest freshwater lagoon in Santa Catarina, surrounded by a preserved Atlantic Rainforest reserve with waters that are 100% drinkable.
In this guide, we at Adventure in Floripa detail how our expedition works so you can prepare for this moment of total connection with nature.

How does the tour work?
Unlike the hustle and bustle of the ocean waves, paddling at Lagoa do Peri is synonymous with peace. The tour is designed to be contemplative and relaxing, ideal for families, couples, and even those who have never stepped into a kayak before.
Reception and Instructions on the Shore
Everything begins with our meeting by the lakeshore, near the "Projeto Lontra" (Otter Project). Before we enter the water, our instructor provides all the tour instructions and teaches basic paddling techniques. We believe that safety starts with information, so you will learn:
How to hold and move the paddle correctly;
How to get in and position yourself in the kayak (we use sit-on-top models, which are extremely stable);
Safety protocols and the correct use of the life jacket.
The Paddle and the Scenery
As soon as we depart, the first thing that impresses is the stillness of the water. During the journey, we glide along the native vegetation. It is the ideal setting for observing local wildlife—it is not uncommon to spot exotic birds in their natural habitat.
The Canal and the Hike
After paddling for about 2km along the edges of the lagoon, we enter a canal that offers surreal landscapes, where the vegetation closes over the water. After traversing the entire canal, we disembark for a light hike, walking for about 15 minutes through the forest.
The Gurita Waterfall
It’s time to recharge your energy with a super refreshing dip. Here, our instructor will share one of his favorite spots on the Island—a true hidden gem that few tourists ever get the chance to visit.
The Return
Our expedition is not a race. On the way back, we still make stops at strategic points where the water is even calmer. It’s the perfect moment for one last freshwater swim: a revitalizing sensation quite different from swimming in the ocean.
Why choose Adventure in Floripa?
Many people ask why they should take a guided tour instead of just renting equipment. The answer lies in our delivery:
100% Supervision: Our instructor is certified and accompanies the group throughout the entire journey, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and confident.
Total Safety: We are one of the few companies that offer individual adventure insurance on all our routes.
Quality Equipment: Our kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are constantly inspected for your total peace of mind.
Small Groups: Just like at Ilha do Francês, we only work with small groups to ensure safety and minimize environmental impacts.
What to bring to Lagoa do Peri?
To ensure your experience is 100% enjoyable, we recommend:
Light clothing: Preferably with UV protection;
Repellent and Sunscreen: Essential items for comfort during the paddle and the hike;
Water and Snacks: To replenish your energy during the stops;
Waterproof phone case: If you really want to bring your phone to record the moments!
Where to park?
For your convenience, there are some public parking spots on the street near our meeting point. If you prefer more security, there is also a private parking lot on-site.
Note: This parking lot is paid separately, and the fee is settled directly with the owner.
Important notice about connectivity: As the area is surrounded by environmental preservation, internet and cell phone signals usually do not work by the lakeshore. We recommend that you load the map or location before leaving home to reach our meeting point smoothly.
Conclusion
Kayaking at Lagoa do Peri is the ideal refuge for those who want to "disconnect to reconnect." Although our tours are usually in the morning, at the Lagoon there is the possibility of afternoon outings since the waters are sheltered and motorized boats are not allowed.
Our tours occur by appointment only, and spots are very limited.
